This photo was taken at The Marathon Clothing Store. Murals, candles, balloons, and other memorabilia filled the lot, along with hundreds of people. For over a week, the block was full of people at any given time or day, all paying their respects to Nipsey.

Out of the 33 selected 1/1s Documentary Photographs, 19 were created into hand-designed Polaroids.
Ermias “Nipsey Hussle” Asghedom was not only a hiphop artist but also a pillar of philanthropy in South Los Angeles. He opened businesses, gave back, and created a safe space for creatives to collaborate and create. After the tragic passing of Nipsey Hussle on March 31st, 2019, there were events in the city of Los Angeles to help remember his legacy.
A few of those include:
- A memorial at The Marathon Clothing Store
- City Hall voting to turn Slauson/Crenshaw to “Nipsey Hussle Square”
- The mural of Nipsey, painted on Crete Academy’s basketball court
These select photos are these events documented from my lens. Enjoy the gallery.
