#22 - THE CIRCLE OF TRUST

Few locations are as photographically inspiring, versatile and ever-changing as Talisker, where the tide can completely transform the landscape revealing a black beach at low tide where a sea of boulders was at high tide. After revisiting Talisker dozens of times, I know exactly what to look for according to every different tide. On this particular evening, the low tide and warm, calm sunset inspired me a feeling of serenity and trust, and I wanted to make an image conveying this feeling. The incoming tide allowed me to plan which boulders would be going under water next. When I found a group of boulders beautifully set and looking like a circle, all I had to do was waiting for the water to arrive; a moderately long exposure created the mood I was after.

ABOUT VOICES OF THE OCEAN

All my life, I felt a profound affinity with the sea. I always have been amazed by the magical way the ocean lives and breathes, by its powers and endless energy. The ocean feels to me like a living creature, benevolent and terrible at the same time, constantly at work shaping the landscape.

The ocean comes with many voices, visually. The long waves and roaring waters offer an infinite range of expressive possibilities to interpret the ocean’s landscapes through a careful use of the visual representation of time.

Working around the ocean, for me, is a never-ending source of inspiration: this collection represents 7 years of photography, listening to the Voices of The Ocean.
