#2 – THE GUARDIANS
In the rich Icelandic mythology, trolls are a frequent presence. The inspiring Reynisdrangar sea stacks are believed to be trolls turned into stone; I photographed this location dozens of times, and every time the conditions I find inspire me to tell different stories. A fiery sunset burning through some low clouds evoked in my mind the image of these trolls turned into stone to forever guard the beach in front of them. A relatively short exposure allowed me to turn the crashing waves into a diagonal line parallel to that of the clouds, for a composition built on near-far planes, diagonals, and lines upon which the Guardians could rest.

ABOUT VOICES OF THE OCEAN
All my life, I felt a profound affinity with the sea. I always have been amazed by the magical way the ocean lives and breathes, by its powers and endless energy. The ocean feels to me like a living creature, benevolent and terrible at the same time, constantly at work shaping the landscape.
The ocean comes with many voices, visually. The long waves and roaring waters offer an infinite range of expressive possibilities to interpret the ocean’s landscapes through a careful use of the visual representation of time.
Working around the ocean, for me, is a never-ending source of inspiration: this collection represents 7 years of photography, listening to the Voices of The Ocean.
