Our friendship with this man started off a little interesting. Because first he showed me his knife and said he needed money, I said he was very handsome and I wanted to take a picture of him and then we became friends.

Black Sea Gypsies is my first documentary photography project, I spent a long time in this neighborhood in Samsun, the city where I live, and tried to talk about people's lives.

Black Sea Gypsies were brought to Turkey Black Sea from Greece in 1924. Likewise, my family came to the Black Sea from Greece. Since I have met the people living here for a long time, it was not very difficult for me to make a project with them. I have been working on this project since 2006. I also won a national geographic turkey award with a photo I took in this project.
