1/1 by Benjamin Theurer // The final image in my collection features the stunning Milkyway over the microbial mats of Grand Prismatic Spring. The leading lines bring my eyes to the incredible colors of the Milkyways nebulae and star clusters, mimicking the impressive colors of the spring below. We visited on a warm night, enshrouded in steam from the nearby Excelsior geyser and surrounding springs. This area remained open and unobstructed allowing us to gaze upon the stars for hours. If you look closely, you can see the tracks of bison and even wolves who have visited the area seeking warmth from the snow of last winter. Something incredible to me about the park is the vastness. It is not only large but full. There is wildlife, plant life, rivers, lakes, streams, thermal areas, geysers, cliffs, mountains, and beautiful skies to fill the landscape. Nothing is baren. Even in this scene, we have things that can only be truly viewed with a microscope and in the same frame things that can only be truly appreciated with a telescope. We lie somewhere in between, enjoying what was created here. Nothing compares to the variety that is held in our Wonderland. I am simply glad to be a part of it.

Wonderland: The First National Park collection image

A 1/1 collection by Benjamin Theurer.

Wonderland. The original nickname of Yellowstone describes the variety of the landscape. With over 10,000 named and unnamed thermal features, over 300 waterfalls, more than 70 peaks, 2,500 miles of running water, and 2.222 million acres of wilderness, Yellowstone is full of experiences to be had. Yellowstone is my first conscious memory. My Grandfather, an E.R doctor, spent a few weeks each summer relieving the full-time park docs at Lake Hospital. We were lucky to join him once in a while in the free housing. With around 1,000 hours spent in the park, you'd think I had seen it all, yet there are still hundreds of trails I have yet to wander. This collection features only a small number of the places I hold close to my heart. Memories of my summers. I suggest you do what I do when visiting, imagine you are one of the first explorers, experiencing wonderland before the crowds.

Dedicated to Dad and Grandpa who taught me to love the park.
