Ucok the young boy of the group munches on some local king grass using his trunk and the 1000s of muscles within to pick and chew with ease. Ucok's unfortunate circumstances were due to human/elephant conflict on the island of Sumatra.
A very personal photography project documenting the last of the remaining Sumatran elephants both in the wild and in captivity throughout the island of Sumatra, Indonesia. The documentary photographs are a direct record of life for the elephants of Sumatra being critically endangered with as few as 1000 remaining. This photography series will help bring to light the need to work to save these amazing animals and support through open sea and nft sales will help continue this much needed documentary series.
