I had camped near this spot many times over the years, and always planned to come back on a misty morning to capture it at its best. The right morning came mid August of 2015 - fog was forecast. I packed my gear and left pre-dawn, heading straight to this spot. I knew exactly the image I wanted to capture and the conditions didn't let me down. While the fog wasn't as thick as I had originally hoped, I think the light mist in the background makes for a better image. Before this image I usually captured trees with a wide angle lens, fitting the whole tree in the frame. This was the first time I got inspiration from the great Hans Heyson and framed the tree differently with a tighter focus on the trunk and lower branches.
