The original conception of this piece was an acrylic painting on stretched canvas created in March of 2017. It was then re-mastered as a vector graphic in late 2017. I prefer to recreate my acrylic paintings as vector graphics. It allows me to fine-tune the original painting and fix things that might catch my eye after completion.
The paintings title, "Awaken" signifies the evolution in my painting process. The works from the previous 5-6 years had a flatness to them that I felt had run its course and needed to evolve. I was inspired by a ribbon-like sculpture I came across while traveling and started experimenting with movement and shadows in my work. This painting was the first "break-out" painting, focusing on dimensions and space, rather than signature shapes.
