There is always an open pool of water at this location in the famous Banff National Park. This little lake is so close to the town of Banff and is well known to be a spot for photographers from all over the world to visit during sunrise. It is another place where I try to focus on the icy details that line the shoreline to create unique foregrounds. I am a lucky girl to live 20 mins away from here. Sometimes I have to pinch myself to remember that this is my life and I live here! Thank you for looking.
About the artist - Sarah is a passionate landscape & portrait photographer with over 10 years experience in the photography industry. Based in the beautiful Canadian Rockies, she is widely known for her long exposures and ethereal self-portrait work showcasing the beauty of the world.
SOLD OUT Winter is one of my ABSOLUTE favourite seasons to photograph in. It's challenging, unique, often has moody weather and the icy foregrounds are magical. Growing up in the North we have no choice but to face the cold conditions which I think makes these images even more special. They are not easy to get and the weather can change on you drastically. I love the natural blues that paint the landscape from the ice. It pairs well with the warmth of a firey sunset or sunrise.
Landscape photography has been my staple through my photographic journey. It is the background to my self-portrait work and where I have grown the most as a photographer.
I hope you enjoy these chilly shots just as much as I enjoy creating them.
