This is 1 of 3 completely unedited photos in the collection. In the background you'll notice Saturn is chasing Jupiter as the sun sets to a silently still Ocean below. This powerful scene triggered an awakening to the profound beauty which exists in the natural world all around us. Photo of the Gulf of Mexico captured from Florida's Panhandle in Nov. 2020.
Modern society has lost its connection to the organic cycles of the natural world that surrounds all of us. In an effort to jolt humanity awake from its robotic slumber, nature has started to put on an increasingly spectacular show with the help of its trusted companions, the sun and the moon.
This series of photos is an observation on the influence of solar activity on sunsets and moon rises as observed from earth. Less than 2 years in, Solar Cycle 25 is trending to exceed all forecasts in terms of number of sunspots and solar flare activity. Many of the photos in this series were captured during solar storms, which occur when solar flares or coronal mass ejections emit bursts of electrically charged energy towards earth. Although correlation is not causation, it is my opinion that these solar storm events generate optically vivid skies on earth.
Photos were taken in the upper Midwest and Gulf Coast states including Illinois, Michigan, Indiana, Wisconsin and Florida.
