About
Abrasive Ice-Cream was born from a physical work, a tempera on paper, created by Salvatore Zito at the end of the 90s. A sweet and inviting food, loved by by adults and children, which could be a happy relief on a sultry day, becomes rough, painful and dangerous, just like the pictorial skill which, if shown naked in front of contemporary art, becomes a rough, thorny object, almost in contrast with our time. Abrasive Ice-Cream in digital, appears as a biomechanical object from space, an alien ice cream, apparently inviting, which however reveals a rough and dangerous nature. Noise and movement corroborate this essence and animate one of the most iconic and famous works of Salvatore Zito's production.
Salvatore Zito lives and works in Turin. He graduated in painting from the Albertina Academy of Fine Arts, where he held the chair of Decoration. Classically trained painter with a spectacular technique, he applies this peculiarity of his to all the artistic experiences that he finds himself going through. Zito works in cycles: Ferraris, Coca-cola, watermelons, tides, still lifes, Spiderman and sticks have gradually populated his works, faced in an ever new way: now with impetuous passion, now with cultured quotes , now with lacerating gestures and expressiveness supported by a rich and intense chromaticity. Salvatore Zito loves to be seduced by the intrinsic beauty of color and uses it to build subtle ironies.
