Marlon Brando was considered a genius of the acting world, and won many of the highest awards for his portrayals of various roles throughout his career. The role that shot him to stardom, as Stanley Kowalski in ‘A Streetcar Named Desire’, may possibly be his most iconic. He was highly creative and very politically engaged in a number of activist causes. Personality-wise he also had the hallmarks of many creative people; at times whimsical, pugnacious, melodramatic, sensitive, anarchistic, eccentric, capricious, narcissistic, passionate, and obsessive compulsive. The nut theme as always had no deliberate intention, but developed by chance in the process as I looked at old beer and whiskey adverts; alcohol played a large part in Brando’s troubles because of his mother’s alcoholism and the pain that caused him and his family. It is a relative commentary on his traumas that seemed to become more pronounced the older he became. He continued to have an incredibly troubled personal and family life throughout. As well as a tumultuous romantic history, culmination was in the tragic episode of his son committing murder, and then his daughter taking her own life.
