This is from a series of landscapes (cloudscapes) I started working on at the beginning of the pandemic. They’re not something I seek out, but they rather seem to seek me out as I go about my relatively dull daily life, proving the old adage that nature is everywhere and it’s up to us how we want to interact with it.

This one I felt fit the mood of coming into 2022 after a couple of really rough years - hopeful and bright but still knowing there are dark forces at work entirely out of our control. Such is life. One can’t have light without darkness, and I often seek to convey that in the images I make. Sometimes I'lI use an object for scale - a tower, a plane, a chimney, and here, a lone seabird. We are all just Mother Nature’s playthings. The clouds and the sea created us all. (Charles Peterson)
