I stood by my car, smiling and full of joy, as my first tornado occludes. This is my first plains storm chase in Lubbock, TX and I stood there remembering all the times I told people, "I want to be a storm chaser". I grew up being known as Thomas the Instagram Weatherman and I used to give forecasts to people through dms. it was a passion from whenever I could remember. Hurricane Katrina went through when I was 5 years old, and I remember wanting to race home to watch coverage on The Weather Channel. Not long later, I was gifted the Magic Tree House book on tornadoes. It scared me to death, but I still loved weather. Fast forward to nine-year-old me watching Storm Chasers on Discovery. I learned there that people chase storms and from then on, I wanted to be just like the people on TV. In this moment, I remembered all of that and realized that this was what I was born for. I was Born to Chase.

My meteorology passion, odd to many kids at the age of 5, started when the fierce Hurricane Katrina rattled the USA. The destruction, heartbreaking, but the power, unmatchable. Hitting the dirt roads of tornado alley was a not just a dream come true, it was fulfilling my destiny. Each day on the job did not feel like work. The miles, the wrong turns, the missed storms were all but a thing, but the storms I caught, small and large, were magnificent. I was born for this. I present to you my collection from my summer "chasecation" of 2021: Chaser in the Element: Stories from Arizona and Tornado Alley.
