A shelf passes with much fury and speed with a beautiful cloud. As it passes, I feel like Jonah being swallowed by the whale. A sky full of darkness and minimal light fills the air, wanting to rain as the storm dies out. A line of downpour awaits me, but holds off for me as I wait to face what Mother Nature has for me. Surrounded by other chasers, we can only talk about how beautiful the moment is. How wonderful it is that we are there, complete strangers who share a passion, doing what we love, there to share the moment. We could have been anywhere in the world in that moment, but our paths crossed under this cloud. A sense of joy and celebration overtake our emotions as the rain takes over.

My meteorology passion, odd to many kids at the age of 5, started when the fierce Hurricane Katrina rattled the USA. The destruction, heartbreaking, but the power, unmatchable. Hitting the dirt roads of tornado alley was a not just a dream come true, it was fulfilling my destiny. Each day on the job did not feel like work. The miles, the wrong turns, the missed storms were all but a thing, but the storms I caught, small and large, were magnificent. I was born for this. I present to you my collection from my summer "chasecation" of 2021: Chaser in the Element: Stories from Arizona and Tornado Alley.
