Facing the Tide was created on my second day of designing for this project in an attempt to gather money for my treatment. Although I finished it that day, it always looked too simple to me and I didn't know what to do with it for months, but following the advice of a good friend of mine, I am uploading it as it was in its original form, unaltered by skill, time, and experience. The story behind this piece goes as follows: on the day I was diagnosed in the hospital, one of my best friends came running to see me. I told her that I had cancer, that I wasn't afraid but that I thought the best thing for everyone would be for me to fight this disease on my own, as I've always done with everything in my life. She looked me in the eyes and told me that I was anidiot. She made me take an oath to fight until my last breath and destroy the disease. We would be those who defy the tide together.

I've been fighting ever since, but never alone.

This collection contains works exclusively created in order to gather money to pay for my cancer treatment. All creations are unique with no repeats. Some of the items are images and others are short videos. I will progressively add to this collection until we reach 49 items, then I will create one final item. With every sale, the buyer will choose a letter from the alphabet which will be added to a 7x7 grid. This grid, filled with letters chosen by each buyer, will be the 50th and final piece of this collection. If all goes well and every piece is sold, I will have gathered the money I need to pay for my treatment!
