We needed to have a brake and drink something before the usual walk during sunset, I started my daily photowalk with this one. Warm light on cozy sofas.
Medium: Mamiya 7ii & Portra 400
Why nostalgia? Nostalgia is that feeling of wanting to relive certain moments, hugging people who are far away or even absent and it doesn’t necessarily mean a bad thing. I find a sense of calm in it, sometimes I have memories that I have never lived but that somehow I feel mine. In this collection I saw myself taking part in an adventure about 6000 miles away from home, to photograph on film moments that can arouse memories, both good or bad ones. For this reason my subjects are classic cars, motel rooms and mundane scenes all captured during the golden hour which features that yellowish light typical of dreams. I also shot this project to show to my grandfather a part of the world he has always seen on TV: classic cars, suburban houses and typical gardens to show him not only the tourist’s views but also a daily "hidden" part of California. Through my pictures I try to make people feel safe. This work is an excerpt from the book I’m working on, featuring all my images from California
