Amelia Earhart (July 24, 1897 – January 5. 1939) Earhart was an American aviation pioneer. She developed a passion for adventure at a young age. While at an exhibition in 1920, her father purchased a 10 minute flight for $10 for her, she was hooked. Earhart steadily gaining flying experience in her twenties. She became the first woman to fly a nonstop solo transatlantic flight. Earhart was also a member of the National Woman's Party and an early supporter of the Equal Rights Amendment. While attempting to become the first female to complete a circumnavigational flight of the globe in 1937, she disappeared over the central Pacific Ocean and was officially declared dead nearly one year and six months after she disappeared.
