'Scars remind us of our struggles and our victories over them.' Breast Cancer has a huge stigma around it because to loose assests that define you as a woman, that nurture life and assests that, over time have been ingrained into us as a standard to measure beauty is to loose one's soul. I have seen many women be very conscious about these scars that set them apart from others and that hang over them as a disability. These are nothing but badges of honor that you bloom from, become a new person- someone who is strong, beautiful and extraordinary for the journey that she's taken.

This piece is also a personal piece to honor my mum who around this time , a few years ago, was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma and fought it like a champ, unabashed and bold ; carrying her scar with pride and smiling thru' all the pain.
