There's a subtle rush...this sense of anticipation, excitement, and focus; once it begins running its course, all else usually becomes irrelevant.
Yet pain, sadness, and fear have become interchangeable. Inner light, energy, and abundance are diminished.
As the intensity increases & the interchangeable dissipate, the fleeting begin to dominate.
And in the expansion of this rush comes a sense of comfort...
....a reminder that after every dark day, hour, minute, or moment, an opportunity for revival is waiting to be discovered.
"Revive"
Growth. Expansion. Recovery.
These three phases are the components of an auroral substorm; in the sobriety journey, recovery from addiction, our daily lives…we experience all of these phases in some capacity.
For nine years I was in the throes of an alcohol addiction. I attempted to take my own life. I endured an emotional break which included physically harming myself.
I wanted to die & attempted to drink myself to death on many nights.
Yet in sobriety I discovered photography; and through photography I fell in love with the aurora.
I found a place to be free. To reflect. To heal. A place where traumas vanish.
A place to grow, expand, recover.
“Book II - Continuum” is the second collection in my long term body of work, where journal entries connect with the aurora to offer insight, hope, and honesty in recovery.
“In darkness there is opportunity - not only in finding the light, but also in becoming the light.”
(This book will consist of two parts)
