Every word, every sentence….every share…every chase.
There’s a cleanse that occurs - internal, external, superficial, relative….
This color cleanses the pain, the hardship, the trauma. It’s an irrevocable effect compounding with every flash of light.
Traversing darkness is all one may be used to; all that one may believe they deserve to bask in.
Does this make color & light more rewarding? Or does it create a heightened sense of discomfort?
There’s security in darkness, yet with every motion there is a cleanse; a cleanse that allows this darkness to evaporate.
“Cleanse”
Growth. Expansion. Recovery.
These three phases are the components of an auroral substorm; in the sobriety journey, recovery from addiction, our daily lives…we experience all of these phases in some capacity.
For nine years I was in the throes of an alcohol addiction. I attempted to take my own life. I endured an emotional break which included physically harming myself.
I wanted to die & attempted to drink myself to death on many nights.
Yet in sobriety I discovered photography; and through photography I fell in love with the aurora.
I found a place to be free. To reflect. To heal. A place where traumas vanish.
A place to grow, expand, recover.
“Book II - Continuum” is the second collection in my long term body of work, where journal entries connect with the aurora to offer insight, hope, and honesty in recovery.
“In darkness there is opportunity - not only in finding the light, but also in becoming the light.”
