MAYO DE 2023 CONVERGENCIA: INTERACCIÓN SINÉRGICA ENTRE HUMANOS, MÁQUINAS Y TECNOLOGÍA

From the material provided by the MRI I have meticulously chosen the visual elements that best fit my artistic intentions, using analog video synthesis I intervene and transform the images into a new form of expression, making visible a duality between the clinical and the artistic. The images generated by the medical machine objectively and accurately capture internal aspects of the human body. However, by introducing artistic intervention through video synthesis, this objectivity is challenged and a subjective and creative dimension is added to the images. The resulting glitch and noise during this process becomes an aesthetic of error, which highlights the beauty of the imperfect and questions the perception of reality.

In this creative collaboration between humans and machines, the MRI becomes a creative collaborator in itself. Its original images act as a starting point for my artistic intervention, establishing a unique dialogue between medical technology and artistic expression. In this process, the MRI becomes a source of inspiration and material, challenging established conventions and pushing the boundaries of medical representation.

After intervening the material with the synthesizer I have generated an additional technological synergy by incorporating an artificial intelligence into the process. Melobytes, an A.I. specialized in generating sounds from video, interprets and analyzes the visual elements of the intervened video to create music that complements and enriches the audiovisual experience of the work. This amalgam of technologies - the magnetic resonator, analog video synthesis and A.I. - merge to create a multidimensional work. These three different technologies come together in harmony to create an artistic experience where the visual and the sound are uniquely intertwined.

The collaboration between humans and machines opens a space to explore the union between technology and human creativity, but also raises questions about creativity and artistic processes. How is the authorship of a work of art generated in collaboration with a machine defined? At what point does human intervention add creative value to the materials generated by technologies?

At what point does human intervention add creative value to materials generated by technologies? Ultimately, Convergence highlights the duality between the clinical and the artistic, the collaboration between humans and machines and technological synergy. It invites us to reflect and question the power and potential of technology in artistic creation, and how these interactions between machines, humans and technology generate a unique and exciting aesthetic experience.

Luces del Cuerpo collection image

“Luces del Cuerpo” is a collection curated by Victor Muñoz of sixty amazing art works created by eight artists. It explores the idea of the body through an immersion in San Vicente´s foundation archive of diagnostic images. More than 11.000 MRI scans and other revealed lights that also symbolize human, social and scientific stories of care.
