This charcoal drawing is a 1 of 1 NFT that is part of my Quantum Baroque series. The figure is meant to represent a kind of sibyl, and the echoed representations of her were first inspired into existence as an intentional pentimenti. I'm experimenting with realizing what can be seen better when partially hidden, trying to create a space that opens up to us when our normal perceptions are overridden.
Other influences for my Quantum Baroque series include the sculptures of Bernini, and the spiritual force that he imbues into fabric. Although the folds upon folds bury the figure, they also convey something in this process of hiding the form, Bernini's sculptures were the first time this resonated with me, though at the time I couldn't come close to putting it into words.
I believe the truth of art is something best represented as a tension created in the art piece. This tension simultaneously shows and hides what is familiar to us, and as a result leads us to new understanding.
Unlockable content is a process video and a larger format image
These 1 of 1 editions are all from my Quantum Baroque painting series. To create this work I first compose an image digitally, this in itself can take months. After I finish my digital composition I create an oil painting from this, using the digital creation to act as my reference while painting in oils.
I then have a professional photographer photograph the finished oil painting, and mint a 1 of 1 NFT from that image. The oil painting version is sold from my gallery Stone Sparrow, in NYC.
I am auctioning these off with a starting bid that is approximately 20% the full value price listed by my gallery. You can verify this price on their website. You can verify me through my linktree on IG, BitClout, and my personal webpage.
All of these NFT's will come with a professionally shot tiff file that can be printed at a size that is 150% larger than the oil painting with no loss of detail.
