Waking up at 2:30 AM and driving 3 hours to hopefully get a photo is always a gamble. Add skies filled with smoke and it's even less likely. This was taken at the iconic Moraine Lake. Just 180° from me was the view you would expect from this spot, but as close to 100 other people watched the mountains light up, I was the only one looking the other way. I don't want to just be another photographer shooting the iconic spots, I want to tell my own story through my eyes. I want to stand out. When the world is looking one way I want to find my own view, good or bad, and make it my own.
