About: These are juvenile orphaned elephants and are taken care of at the Sheldrick Elephant orphanage. Most of these young elephants lose their parents mainly due to poaching but also due to drought and illnesses. At the elephant orphanage they are usually fed out in the open where the public can come and see. I love visiting the orphanage and watching them play like little kids, they push, shove, hug each other with their little trunks and climb on top of each other.

It is joyful to watch them and the same time it is a good reminder that we need to be conscious of how unique these creatures are and that we should do everything we can to protect them. Whether it is through standing up against poaching or through preserving the environment in which they live in and indeed the environment all living creatures live in, including us
