Essence of Africa Vol 1 – 25 images, all 1/1 editions. This is a collection of just a few of the wildlife photos that I took on a trip of a lifetime in 2013. A Safari in Kenya, Africa.

It was a five-day journey starting in the Maasai Mara for three days, Amboseli for a day and then Tsavo West for the final day.

I still can’t quite believe how lucky we were. As we set off on day 1, we found out that we had a vehicle and safari guide all to ourselves! Our very own private safari! This meant that we were able to see everything and spend the time we wanted observing different wildlife without holding anyone else back. The guides we had in each of the national parks were just amazing and unbelievably knowledgeable.

My wife and I planned our trip to coincide with the spectacular Great Wildebeest Migration. This happens every year and over 1.5 million wildebeest, along with zebra and Thompson gazelle, migrate for hundreds of miles in search of fresh grasses and water. The herds migrate in an enormous loop from the Serengeti plains in Tanzania all the way to the Maasai Mara in Kenya and then back again.

The Great Wildebeest migration is recognised as one of the “Seven Wonders of the Natural World” and I couldn’t agree more!

I’ve always had an interest in wildlife so being able to observe these fascinating wild animals roaming free and in their natural environment was just phenomenal. This was such an epic and memorable experience, and as you can imagine, a photographer’s dream!

It’s been so difficult to pick out only 25 photos to share with you which is why I have listed this as ‘Vol 1’…so stay tuned, there may be more to come!
