Digitally Oil Painted in 2021 By Miami Artist Meaghan Rey. Rey is best known for her realistic animal portraits, a subject which interested her after rescuing 5 animals in the wake of tragically losing her Father to his long battle with alcoholism. Animals have been known to be a healing force in the face of trauma, and this artist can attest to the benefits of adopting for emotional support as well as using art as therapy. While her specialty has laid in custom dog and cat portraiture for those experiencing the loss of a pet or wishing to celebrate their life, Rey deviates from her norm now and then and captures the spirit of wild animals. Rey is a 5th generation artist with multifaceted skills including but not limited to: photography, realism, and abstract art. Meaghan Rey holds a 4 year Degree in Traditional Drawing and Painting and has been using Photoshop as a painting medium since 2010. At the date of this painting, she was 25 years old.

Call of The Wild collection image

"Call of The Wild" takes the beauty of nature, photography, & traditional painting techniques into our digital world. Rey is best known for her realistic animal portraits, a subject which interested her after rescuing animals in the wake of long-term trauma that ended with her father's suicide, leaving her with C-PTSD. Animals have been known to be a healing force and this artist can attest to the benefits of adopting for emotional support and using art as therapy. Every hour spent on a painting is an hour she is not reliving her trauma and instead meditates on some of the beauty the world has to offer after having lived through so much of life's ugliness. Rey has spent the last 3 years battling carpal tunnel, arthritis, and neuropathy in both of her hands and treats every painting as if it were her last. Half way through the making of this collection Rey learned that she has a life long incurable chronic illness which is causing the issues with her hands.
