My grandmother loved life. She adored everything earthbound and human. She loved to talk about her dresses and shoes. Her favorite memory was the moment when she walked down the main street of the city that survived the war, wearing her circle skirt, flying around like a huge splash of color. People turned around and smiled at her. Because they still had hope. It's something very human, a product of our constitution, our nature.

Though she spoke not only about skirts, we often openly discussed one of the main human taboos - death. My grandmother's journey is over, but I'm lucky enough I'm able to continue our talks through my art. I created this photograph to keep the talk going. It's not just a colorful image it's deeply symbolical for me, it's the way to celebrate life no matter what.
