Artist Statement: "Florence is the city of Dante's birth, and so I have reimagined Procession on a Road to Florence to "A Procession on a Road to the Crypt near Florence" I have taken the symbols of the artwork, a woman holding an umbrella, a group of women holding hands & horses and reimagined them as ghoulish and corpse-like figures on a road to the eternal realm. I have used holographic paper to make the women holding the umbrella appear virtual, as well as give her a croans head with mourning veil. This 2D piece of artwork was made with historical art samples & hand drawn elements on white and holographic paper, laminated, poured over by epoxy resin and then scanned to be digitally enhanced.
