Title: Chester
Artist name: Horse Whistler
Edition type: 1/1
Collection Description: 100% of initial sales will be donated to a Guatemalan non profit, spaying, neutering, and vaccinating street dogs. -> https://www.antiguastreetdogs.org/. In the first two months of 2022, I traveled around Guatemala and saw countless street dogs. I heard multiple stories about locals taking in yet another dog that they couldn't afford to feed, vaccinate, or care for properly. This resulted in piles of feces in the streets, packs of dogs roaming around at night and attacking people, and I had even heard about someones kid who had died because of rabies. This might seem far off for most, but for Guatemalans, this is reality. This collection highlights some of the most photogenic dogs that I found in my travels. 50% of all secondary royalties will be donated to antigua street dogs to maintain the charity of this project.
Photo Description: Chester was a scrapper. I could see the scars on his back from the fights he got into with other dogs. I walked by him every single day on my way to Spanish school in San Juan La Laguna, Lago Del Atitlán. Although defensive of his territory from other dogs, he was a shy boy around humans. After many days of me walking by and saying hello, always sure to give him scratches in his sweet spot on his back, curiosity got the best of him, and he let me shoot this picture of him.
