Turtles All the Way Down 10 (1/15/2021, R code). This piece is part of twenty selected generative artworks released as unique iterations (numbered 1-10), in a limited collection by Kenny Vaden: “A Human in Times of Chaos.” The rule used for this algorithm evoked nesting concepts such as Russian nesting dolls, self-similar structures like ferns and onions, fractals, and turducken. And the myth of our world resting atop a giant turtle, which sits recursively more turtles, cascading to infinity. After creating the black plot space, eighty distorted concentric circles were drawn with gradient colors and random line widths. The distortion was created by adding noise to underspecified circle coordinates, then multiplying the width and height by random values. Finally, the circles were modified by folding back any edges that exceeded the image boundaries. The image dimensions for this file are 20x20 inches and 300 DPI, which produced a file size below the 40 MB limit but provides a higher resolution (more detail) than the original version shown online.
