New Strains 5 (1/25/2021, R code). This piece is part of twenty selected generative artworks released as unique iterations (numbered 1-10), in a limited collection by Kenny Vaden: “A Human in Times of Chaos.” A series of 32 dark gray square polygons was drawn in random order, with row and column location dependent numbers of lines and line widths. The direction of diagonal lines randomly flipped in the horizontal and vertical directions. Orange and red circles were drawn in random cells that were large enough to overlap with other cells. Because of the random order that the cells were plotted, some of the circles were drawn over and others were not, creating interesting layers. Lastly, white boundaries were redrawn for each square in the grid to clean up splinter lines and polygon fragments in the margins. The image dimensions for this file are 30x15 inches and 300 DPI, which produced a file size below the 40 MB limit but provides a higher resolution (more detail) than the original version shown online.
