About the Artist:
Lovejoy
Lovejoy graduated from Savannah College of Art & Design in 2003. Her goal when leaving Savannah was to earn a living as an artist and to be creative and active every day. She then spent the next seven years developing her style with the palette knife and bold use of color in Sedona, AZ. “I usually don't know what my final art piece will look like when I start, only the subject and basic composition. Finding most of my creative flow within the wildlife genre, I developed a way to sculpt with paint, layer by layer. Creating a beautiful play of lights and shadows, full of unexpected colors side by side. It’s a dance, a push and pull until the form becomes whole. I find so much peace when I’m creating,” - Lovejoy.
In Sedona, Lovejoy commissioned and sold a well-rounded collection of artwork, including the creation of a 51x7 ft. public mural titled, A Timeless Day in Sedona. Lovejoy also enjoys the outdoors – mountain biking, hiking, exploring, and loving life – which all tie in and inspire her creativity.
Lovejoy currently resides in San Diego, CA and operates a studio/gallery in historic Liberty Station where she teaches painting and encaustic classes and sells original works of art. San Diego Studio closed due to Covid19 economy.
Description:
This particular series is about emotions, the colors they illicit, and how the universe transforms these emotions into something new - something beautiful. The work became a therapeutic outlet for expressing personal turmoil. During COVID19, as I went through my own issues, therapy, and experiences, I identified the unearthed emotion, selected two to three colors, and with my knife, scraped on the colors that exemplified the intended emotion. Each piece of art received two to four resin coats, with colors floated in the resin. The resin and colors spontaneously interacted; the end result was intentionally impromptu, allowing the media to imitate the flux of emotions experienced. I consider this aspect the universe doing its thing, creating layers upon layers on our emotions, experiences, our tears, and our joys-all are affected. The layers the universe creates on top of our emotions are, in my opinion, turning them into beautiful works, especially the sad and hard to understand emotions. Thus, the lesson is that no matter what you feel or go through, the universe will add its layers to our experiences, and with time, all will be viewed from a different perspective. So, as we all go through trying times, as an individual, community, nation, or world with time, the universe will add to and grant a different perspective. This NFT is the representation of that physical painting I had created.
