All the femininity blossomed and germinated to approach a subject as sensitive as abortion, from any of its causes. The woman is a generator of life, fertile, and at the same time participates in this process of life and death as a representation of an endless cycle where she is always food and sustenance.

Interwoven as in the limbus of a menstrual skein, are embryos of different gestational ages, all inhabitants of a abstract world. The thread is the symbolic material that I use to establish the union between mothers and fetuses; the ball or skein is the potential universe from which the unborn children arise and are formed.

The illustration belongs to a series of works where I meditate on abortion as a means of healing the loss. The piece that gave way to this process is a woven blanket measuring 10 cm by 12 m in length that represents the human embryonic conception line from the beginning to the first 12 weeks of life, an installation that feeds on the stories of women who have gone through this act, with whom I share a healing experience.

It is a work with a growing social extension, of which Blood Queen is a part, as a branch of the manual work with which I have always conceived my pieces.
