Lost in Genesis #6 "Arise"
Model - Akori
This first series needed to have a revelation or a point of epiphany for the viewers. I took advantage of one of the models not being in a white dress as the turning point of my story. When Akori and I shot this image, I basically blinded myself looking through the waist level finder trying to find the perfect light behind her head. But it was all worth it when I scanned these images and saw them for the first time. I was so excited I texted her and sent her the images and she screamed over text. This was another favourite image that I created for the series. I love all the images that I made for this collection; however, this helped me glue the story together.
“Lost in Genesis” is a project focused on gender and the sexual fluidity of celestials. Because in the beginning, before anything else manmade, there was love in its truest, most honest form. The goal of Lost in Genesis is to highlight not just angels of any colour, but to capture the essence of the love that has always included celestial queerness. This project shows that humans of all backgrounds are accepted into the divine. This is a collection totaling 30 images that I have taken over the course of the year, with a special emphasis on people of color, as research has shown a general exclusion of angels of color. This is the first installment of 30 total images.
"There us to be hundreds of us, now we're merely dozens"
All photos were taken on Fuji Pro400H using both my Pentax 6x7 and Mamiya RB67.
