Its been ten years since it had happened since I was ten. Spirited away from the hands of my parents, given away by my parents as they could not keep me anymore. How long has it been since I lived a dreaded life? Every day was just a day to survive. To eat, to live, and breathe. My stomach and side were hurting, crunching over.

I remember it like yesterday when I was beaten for my failures or mistakes. Then, the screams, the pointing, crashing, and even heavy pain would rock my whole body.

I could still feel his heated breath, breathing down on my back. His disgusting gaze would look me up and down.

The welts on my arms and back were healed but still white and present. It was never going to go away.

I shivered, trying to push the thought away.

With a deep breath, I looked up out into the open plains.

I was glad that these were memories and no more as I was now free of my past.
