“Kat,” my grandmother spoke up from the bed. She was smiling at me with her soft eyes that looked as if they could peer into my soul. Her white hair was gently laid out on the side of the pillow where she lay. I couldn’t help but shy away. “Kat,” she called my name again. I looked at her. I knew she was very sick. Her wrinkled fingers shook, and she motioned me with her hand. I reached over, grabbing her hand. A swarm of emotions spilled into me as I could feel how frail she was. The once boisterous life that I have seen in my grandmother was gone, and instead, she was sickly in bed. “Come closer.” I sat down next to her. My hands wouldn’t let go. “How are you, kat.” “I’m okay, gran.” “Are you sure?” “Yes.” My heart sank. “It’s okay, Kat.” Grandma patted my hand a few times. “I’m ready to go on another adventure.” “You're an immortal grandma. You’ll live forever.” I said it with a strained voice. Grandma chuckled. “I am Kat; I’ll always be in your heart.” “Gran….You’re immortal.” “Yes. I am.”
