Modern day landscape photographers are multi-faceted artists; tasked with not only capturing compositions perfectly in the field, but also harnessing the beauty of that scene through refined post-processing. There are varying degrees of this in different photographer’s workflows, endless debates on “how far is too far” - but in the end, for every digital photographer, the creative process does not finish once the shutter has been clicked.
The necessity to adjust and improve on what was captured dates back decades to black and white film, where the pioneer Ansel Adams would heavily “dodge and burn” (brighten and darken) different parts of the film in the dark room. The technology today is newer, infinitely more intricate and capable, yet the principle remains the same.
Post processing in the digital darkroom is 50% of my creative process. To take a RAW file - dull in appearance but brimming with data for enhancement - to a breathtaking and polished final product is one of the most satisfying parts of photography. Though my connection with nature and desire to showcase its beauty is at the core of what I do, Photoshop’s endless artistic possibilities play a huge part in satisfying my internal creative horse which is perpetually chomping at the bit.
In this collection, you’ll find insight into 3 years worth of my own fine art landscape photography, created to reveal the start-to-finish result of my creative process once I’ve captured an image. Many of these RAW files have never been seen until now. Each 1/1 collectible is a 4K, high bit-rate video, designed with a perfect loop to provide a seamless boomerang between the finished image and RAW file.
The ability to execute a vision is what defines an artist. This collection is 50 times where I succeeded.
