JAPE story
Noiki was near-dead when she was abandoned by soldiers fighting in the Congo war. She was rescued by a traveler and brought to the sanctuary in Kinshasha where she had to be given mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, water, and spaghetti. When I photographed her she was in good health and an important female in her group. In Bonobo society females are the dominant in controlling the group and will form alliances with other females to control the males.
