Gino had feisty energy. He was one of the first chimps I photographed and I used a peanut taped to the end of my lens to encourage the chimp to look in to the camera. It was too much temptation for Gino who shot out his arm in a flash and took the peanut.
James and Other Apes (#JAPES) presents 52 celebrated portraits of great apes, captured by James Mollison across four years and four continents. Shot in the aesthetic of the passport photograph, each Jape has their own unique traits and characteristics, and powerful stories which can be found at ART3.io/japes. 10% of net funds raised through NFT sales will be donated to the sanctuaries who rescued the apes and invited James in with his camera, and initial collectors will receive an archive quality certificated print with their Jape.
