Bio: My name is Mustafa, from India. Documentary and landscape photographer. M.Sc. geography drop out who choose business for the survival.
Collection : As small entrepreneur I meet a lot of people. People who are familiar or non familiar to me. At the beginning of this collection I thought, pick some random strangers, create some portraits and tell their stories. Actually this collection opened my eyes, hearing my subject story is important for me, one month ago I visited an indigenous community in a forest, their lifestyle, their houses, their situations changed my concept about documentary photography
The Future is Bright
In this collection, six of my works are mainly focused on three communities.
- Nayakas
- Kurumbas
- Paniyans
Kurumba kids are getting good education. All children are studying in the Tribal school near by their hamlet. They knows that only through education can help us. They have a leader here who studied Masters in Social Works in Chennai, India. His name was Senthil. He is working as a tribal promoter in the Nilagiri District. Tamilnadu, India.
This kid name is Raj, His dream is to become a Police man. Senthil inspiring the children here, Due to his mass movement along with locals, estate management forced to gave them a road to their Huts.
He is the leader here, encouraging everyone to study, and improving everyone's life. I thought how an educated single man changes a community. I was eager to meet him but unfortunately he was out of state. The Pinayans and Nayakas are lacking a man like Senthil. Only through education they can survive. I hope one day one these Nayakas or Paniyans kids become like Senthil too
This collection consist of six portraits. Pictures are from a tribal community called Kurumba, people living in the mountains. After the collection is sold out, 20 per cent of the sales will go back to the community for their educational and personal wellbeing. The details will be personally sent to the collectors with authentic proof.
