In early 2015, I was asked to enter a condemned building to see if there might be valuables inside. The estate had been purchased by a local real estate investor, and the building was scheduled to be demolished, while the contents were destined for the local landfill. What we found inside is astonishing.
Over 100,000 photographs, taken by the city photographer of over 60 years, had been left behind for the dump. It took us 35 days with a crew of 5 people to extract the contents.
The fate of the estate as a whole has not yet been determined. In the meantime, I’d like to invite you to enjoy some of these original photos from this incredible collection, that I have personally revised for the blockchain.
This will be an ongoing collection until it is no longer in my possession. We continue to find amazing things in this collection years later as we are still going through the envelopes.
