This audio was used to file a lawsuit against the Santa Monica Police Department that resulted in a lawsuit settlement awarded to Sennett Devermont for $70,000 USD. The video that has been minted was put on youtube February 24, 2014. The night I spent in jail was December 23, 2011. The preview image is my mugshot from that night. I took that photo from the evidence folder my attorney had before receiving the settlement.
I posted this video on youtube which quickly received millions of views with a recurring comment and question. "This happened to me, can I sue?" I responded every-time nearly the same, "I am sorry to hear this happened. Did you film it?" Because the answer was usually no, I began trying to encourage we Always Film The Police. Since that stop we have received thousands of videos of police injustice and helped expose hundreds.
MrCheckpoint has helped advocate and amplify silenced voices. From education and awareness to connecting victims and those in need to affordable, honest, reliable, and in some instances, the most important civil rights leaders and attorneys in the country. We are community, and we are Always For The People in all ways.
