This has to be my favourite shot from the collection. I usually shoot these goby fishes quite a lot as they are one of the best macro subjects you can find in Singapore waters. It took a lot of trial and error to get this photo as I wanted. These days it became a habit for me to search for these tiny fish when ever I see a whip coral. I was able to create that gothic look by illuminating the background backscatter with a colour light.

These wire-coral goby or whip coral goby, is a benthic species of goby widely distributed from the tropical and subtropical waters. They spend most of their life in those coral hiding from predators. This particular fish was probably around 2cm in size. There is a lot of magnifying glass between me and the fish to get those details in the frame.

It is our responsibility to promote the protection of our wonderful wildlife. This particular piece is displayed in The Wildlife Collective Charity Drive. In this drive, 50% of the proceeds from each sale will to a conservation organization of their choosing.

This piece was created by Shinto K Anto (Artist alias: FloodedCamera). The image is part of a 1/1 photo collection called Singapore from Below. The collection contain 25 unique underwater photographs taken from Singapore waters during the span of two years.

Singapore from Below collection image

Volume 1 - Singapore is home to a large variety of animal and plant species, which can be found in their natural habitats. Be it dry land tropical rainforests, mangroves or coral ecosystems, there is a rich biodiversity to be found in our Nature. With this collection, I want to showcase some of the unknown underwater wonders in this local waters.

Unlike the rest of South East Asia, diving conditions in Singapore is challenging. On an average day we get only a visibility of 2-3 meters which can some time go towards 0 depends on the day. But these waters are a great place to photograph underwater macro life. This is going to be a two part series with a combined total of 25 photographs.

To make this world a better place, with every initial sale, we will be doing Marine Megafauna Foundation's whale shark adoption under collector's preferred name.

Let me show you a different Singapore from below.
