Puko-Cho Ride Token minted in 2021. Edition 94 of 100.
When I was a child, we would collect molted feathers from the Epiolnis that inhabited the nearby forest. On one expedition in early spring, I wasn't paying attention and tripped on a half buried chest that was overgrown with moss. Inside was a wizards bracelet, about a dozen X-potions and a sack of these mysterious coins. Years later, a merchant explained that these were referred to as “Puko-Cho Ride Tokens” and were used in gambling when betting on Chocobo races. According to the merchant, it has a Moogle on the reverse side because the value of one of these was worth its weight in Kupo Nuts. I don’t know if any of this is true, but he seemed to know exactly what they were...
Conceptualized, designed and executed by Cresil.
I created the model for this while messing around one night. I didn't work off a sketch, just started building directly the coin blank and it evolved into this idea of a token that would of been used in betting on Chocobo races. I like the colors on this one and added some subtle effects to get an idea for future projects. This is the second "coin" that I have made and plan on creating more as I am having a lot of fun with these and learning how to model using these voxel programs.
