RAY 39/50 Ray Dato is a street art artist from New York City. He moved to Vietnam in search of fame and inspiration at the age of 23. There he joins the European movement NEW WALE RUN. Ray always thought his work lacked something. He was jealous of good artists, even though he was very talented himself. A year later, in 1991, Ray Dato was painting graffiti in an empty neighborhood in Hanoi with his girlfriend Marie. They had an argument and Ray killed Marie. Ray saw Marie's body in the background of the graffiti and discovered exactly what his artwork was missing: bloody bodies against a backdrop of bright street art. For half a year, Ray sat in the doldrums, pondering his art. At the beginning of 1992 he and his friends moved to France. There he began his bloody creativity. Ray would paint a wall during the day and at night he would bring a victim there and beat them to death with a hammer. The red blood bled beautifully on the paint. Ray was burning with the idea of creating more and more art. But in 1994, the police exposed him. New art came to a new dead body. After another one of Ray's works, the police ambushed him and caught the killer. In two years, Ray drew 16 street art and killed 22 people. Ray Dato was sentenced to life in prison. He is still serving his sentence in the Santé prison in Paris.
