Takuya is a Karura from Japan. Karura is an enormous, fire-breathing, and to feed on dragons/serpents. Karura is one of the proselytized and converted creatures recruited to form a guardian unit called the Hachibushū.They are recruited to protect gods. Takuya was recruited to a karura at upon birth having been born from Karura parents. When he reached adolescense, the god Takuya's parents were guarding was attacked. The Karuras defended the god but the sheer size and volume of the army that attacked them and the power they have proved to be too much. In a last ditch effort to save the god, the god asked the remaining Karuras who will take on his power. The god believed that if he dies without his powers, he will be reincarnated. Once reincarnated, he will find the Karura that is keeping his powers to get it back. Since Takuya is young, he was considered to be the purest, the Karuras chose him. Takuya has since been waiting for the god to be reincarnated to find him.
