The first NFT launch by multi-disciplinary Singaporean artist Rizman Putra, to commemorate his groundbreaking participatory exhibition IMMEMORIAL, commissioned by Art Outreach for the 10th edition of Singapore Art Week in January 2022.
Painted over the course of 37 days before being shared with the public for 24 days, IMMEMORIAL welcomed more than 3,800 people into a fantastical neon forest of floor-to-wall drawings, accompanied by a monochrome room where they could fill in the walls with colours of their own, adding to an evolving work of art with others around them.
Having been created for and by the community, IMMEMORIAL now lives on in the form of NFTs, giving you the chance to collect a piece of this special work, and to own it in perpetuity.
Collecting an NFT not only allows you to collect a piece of IMMEMORIAL, the proceeds from your transaction will also be shared between the artist Rizman Putra and Art Outreach, with royalties from secondary sales continuing to support the work Art Outreach does in championing artists and providing art programmes and workshops for the public as well as underprivileged children.
In conjunction with Singapore Art Week 2022, Art Outreach Singapore presented an immersive site-specific installation by Rizman Putra that celebrates the magic of co-creation.
A multi-disciplinary artist with a decades-long practice that straddles performance, visual art and music, Putra transformed a white-walled gallery space into a portal to an alternate reality.
Returning to the beginnings of art, the fantastical space was filled with Putra’s re-imaginations of cave drawings and overgrown trees that engulfed visitors, transporting them to a time long past. A ticking metronome poetically evoked the passing of time as they navigate through the forest of forms to discover an untouched space that was filled with visitors interventions.
Putra finds freedom in this unpredictability of co-creation, likening it to the staging of a play where, having added his own layers of meaning to a work, its final completion must be entrusted to the actors and audience, a gift from one to another.
