In Asahidake Onsen, Higashikawa, Hokkaid, the Wakasa Resort runs the Asahidake Ropeway, a Japanese aerial lift system. The highest mountain in Hokkaido, Mount Asahi-dake of the Daisetsuzan Mountains, is climbed by the ropeway line, which was built in 1968 and renovated in 2000.
