Rose-breasted Grosbeak (Pheucticus ludovicianus). Ulster County, New York, USA.
The rosy ones have finally arrived! Which begs the annual question: How exactly does one pronounce "grosbeak"? Is it "grows", "gross", "grahs"? Unfortunately for myself, I lean towards "grahs", which appears to be the most uncommon pronunciation. Birding is fun on so many levels.
Regardless, this rosy individual and a few of his friends have visited for two days now. Despite the heavy rain today, it showed up within seconds after I refilled the birdfeeder.
The Other Nature project is dedicated to fostering appreciation for the unique biodiversity of our planet. Please contact othernaturephoto@gmail.com for inquiries.
Other Nature: Conservation Through Dedication
I am an ecologist and nature advocate that has documented thousands of unique biodiversity sightings in my local area of New York. This collection is an ongoing representation of my life's work.
One original species documentation will be added every day. Each sighting is thoughtfully chosen and comes with a unique description, ranging from the technical to the irreverent.
This project reflects my personal dedication to biodiversity and conservation and I hope to inspire others to join me in this mission. Conservation begins with understanding, love, and knowledge: ideals that are invaluable for anyone to pass on to future generations.
Preserving our home begins with a shift in the global collective consciousness: a movement towards valuing and embracing life on our planet.
